Setting Up Static FBML Application

BY ALEX TRAN

This Facebook application adds advanced functionality and customization to your fan or business page by creating a box or tab on your page. In this area you can add HTML or FBML (Facebook Markup Language) for page customizations.

You will need:

  • To have previously created an account at facebook.com
  • Basic info set up
  • Privacy settings customized
  • Previously created fan or business page

Step 1: Log into Facebook & Pages Area

Log into your account, look in the sidebar for “Applications.” Click the Ads and Pages link.

Step 2: Add & Adjust FBML Settings

Scroll to the bottom of your selected fan page. The FBML application is most likely listed in the suggested apps section. If not, browse the applications and add it. Once it has been added you can Click edit to add your code.

Initially, the new box will show up as FBML 1 as shown below. When you edit the new page, you will have the option to change the title.

Step 3: Add HTML or FBML

When you click the edit button, you’ll be taken to a page that looks similar to this one, where you can add your html code to create a welcome, signup, or other customized area.

Be sure to change the box title since it will show in a tab on your fan/business page. Click "save" when finished.

Note: When you change the box title for this page, it will also change in your application list, as seen below.

To add another custom page, just click the "add another FBML box" link to get started.

That’s all there is to creating great custom pages and areas for your fan or business page.
